Fibroid
is a type of tumor which grows inside the uterus. Fibroid is the cause of many
painful complications. A patient can develop feeling of pain during defecation,
backache, abdominal discomfort, heavy periods and anemia among other symptoms.
Patients facing this condition should consider immediate fibroid treatment.
Usage
of anti-inflammatory drugs is seen in many cases. These drugs should be used in
the time of menstrual period. Some of the anti-inflammatory drugs like
mefanamic and ibuprofen help in reducing production of prostaglandins in the
body. These hormones are the cause of excessive bleeding during periods. These
drugs do not lead to infertility and can be used as painkillers.
Gonadotropin
released hormone agonist is injected inside the body which makes a woman
produce less amount of estrogen. This is the process where less production of
estrogen helps in the reduction of uterus
fibroids. This process assures that there will be no fertility issues after
a patient stops taking this treatment. GnRHA prevents the menstrual cycle from
running. This menopause like condition may lead side-effects leading from
flashes to vaginal dryness. GnRHA can be used before surgery to reduce the size
of the fibroids.
Some
patients go under hysterectomy to get relief of painful condition like
fibroids. It is process of completely removing the uterus from the body. When
the condition of the patient worsens after heavy bleeding or enlargement of
fibroids, hysterectomy is the last resort. It requires a précised and dedicated
operation to become successful. It is also practiced to prevent reappearance of
fibroids. The side effects of hysterectomy may cause losing libido and early
menopause and infertility.
Some
patients undergo myomectomy, which means fibroid
removal by surgical means. Those patients who want get pregnant opt for
this surgery. But the procedure may not cure multiple fibroids or enlarged
uterus tumor.
